Are you insured?

A lot of contractors out there claim to be self insured or in some cases even falsify insurance certificates. In the event that something does go wrong you don't want to have to depend on individuals or businesses to make good on the money needed to right the damage. At Redi Roofing we not only provide you with a copy of our insurance certificate up front, but encourage you to call our carrier and ask questions about our insurance policy.

What Trade Associations are you a member of?

Most associations have qualification standards just to become a member. As a homeowner you should be wary of any contractor who claims to be an 'independent'. In most cases trade associations offer benefits and special offers to there members so there is really no reason not to join an organization other than the contractor's inability to meet the quality of craftsmanship required. And is that really someone you want to trust with your most valuable asset?

Do you attend training seminars and classes to keep up to date on the products you install?

The products and methods of installation in the roofing industry are constantly changing. It is important that your contractor stays knowledgeable and up to date in there field. This is beneficial to the homeowner because in some cases they may be able to introduce you to a new product that can save you money and hassle in the future. At Redi Roofing we work closely with our suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that our employees are given the best training available from the beginning and periodically attend seminars and training courses to give our customers the quality they deserve.

Do you have a list of references?

It's one thing for your contractor to tell you he does good work and another to hear it from satisfied customers. If your contractor can not provide you with any customers willing to be a reference then proceed with caution. At Redi Roofing we take pride in the work we do and encourage our homeowners to contact previous customers to hear first hand about the outstanding work we have completed and there satisfaction with our quality and craftsmanship.

Do you have a letter of good standing from your suppliers and/or your financial institution?

Dependability and stability are key to operating a good business. Ask your contractor for a letter of good standing from his business partners and financial institutions. This can often let you know what kind of person you are working with from the beginning and there stability should a problem arise in the future.

What are the payment arrangements?

A reputable company will often purchase materials up front on good faith. Barring any unusual circumstances such as past problems or credit history there is no reason you should ever be asked to pay upfront before services are rendered or materials are delivered to the job site. The number one reason for lawsuits and complaints in the construction industry is a customer paid upfront and the contractor was never to be heard from again. Redi Roofing orders materials in good faith and only asks for half down once construction begins.

Do you do a final inspection?

To ensure our customers are completely satisfied with the work we perform we do a final walk through and inspection with all of our homeowners prior to asking for final payment. This gives you leverage over us as your contractor to ensure that we meet the level of craftsmanship and quality you deserve. Final inspections are done on site by your representative with you present so any concerns can be addressed in a timely manner.
